We believe that the state is ordained by God to maintain law and order, therefore we seek to obey the New Testament commands to render honor to the authorities, (Rom. 13), to pay our taxes, to pay for our rulers, (1 Tim. 2:1-2), and to obey all laws that do not conflict with the higher law of God. (Acts 4:19, 5:29)

The government is responsible to suppress evil in the world and to punish the evildoer. (Romans 13:3-4) Therefore we encourage our members to not get involved in politics, vote , or serve as jurors. When an affidavit or declaration is required members shall affirm rather than take a legal oath.

The teaching of Jesus, (Matt. 5:40), and of Paul, (1 Cor. 6:1-8), makes it clear that the Christian is not to repress an adversary, but rather to suffer wrongfully. In case of suit brought against members, they are encouraged to pray for God's direction and to seek counsel from the ministry.

RELATIONS TO CIVIL GOVERNMENT

Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence. John 18:36
Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves.

For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil.
Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience’ sake. For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God’s ministers attending continually to this very thing. Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor. Rom 13:1-7
